48 Hour Film Project:

Good morning everyone!
Just hoping you might pass this along to your talent.

I have been contacted by one of the teams in the upcoming 48hr film project to help with casting.
If anyone is unfamiliar with the 48hr film project, here's a link to their website.
http://www.48hourfilm.com/
The 48 hour film fest is coming to Atlanta the weekend of June 18 - 20. The 48 hour festival is a contest where teams compete by making a 6 minute movie in 48 hours.
It is crazy and fast paced and teams must be available at a moment's notice all hours of the day and night during the weekend.
According to the rules of the contest, teams are not allowed to pay anyone, but the contest provides great exposure for actors in that every film will be shown on the big screen at the Fox Theater the following week. SAG actors are welcome.

This is a team of aspiring young film makers. They were on the team New Lexicon last year which won the award for "Best Use of Character".

Anyone looking to be part of a team, please shoot me an email with your 800casting link and contact (cell and email) and I'll see if we can make it happen!
Thanks!

Chez Group Workshop

Chez Studio Workshop for Adults - June 19th-20th with L.A Casting Director Jason Wood CSA

Jason Wood returns to partner with Shay Bentley Griffin as they encourage actors to learn and hone their craft.

Through the workshops offered at the Chez Studio, Griffin is dedicated to building the Georgia and Southeast talent base, thus enabling more roles to be cast locally. The guest instructors are all very successful working professionals in the film and television industry. She is passionate about providing professional training for actors in the Southeast and always encourages producers and directors to look to local talent for their casting needs.

As a casting director, Griffin has cast well over 200 television and feature film projects. She has always worked to create breakout opportunities for local actors, helping to launch the careers of Walton Goggins (“Justified”, “The Shield”), Grace Zabriskie (“Big Love”), Ray McKinnon (“Deadwood”, “The Blind Side”), Chandler Massey ("Days of our Lives") Kyle Chandler (“Friday Night Lights”), Gary Anthony Williams (“The Boondocks”) and many others.

Along with other industry leaders, Griffin was a major industry leader that worked to pass the tax incentive bill that positioned Georgia once again as a major film and television center. The incentive has brought millions of dollars to Georgia and created hundreds of jobs. Because of the incentive, Georgia is enjoying an explosion of film and TV production, with more on the way. =

Actors now have a genuine opportunity to build careers in here in Georgia and the Southeast.

JASON L. WOOD, C.P.A. Casting Director and Producer Jason Wood began his career in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia working for award winning casting director, Shay Griffin. After gaining valuable experience and exposure, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his passion and continue his career. Arriving on the West coast, he settled in Hollywood and was soon recruited by Randy Stone, head of casting at Twentieth Century Fox Television to serve as a casting executive for the studio. During his time at 20th, the studio produced many memorable prime time television shows such as: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, X-Files, The Practice, The Simpsons, Dharma & Greg and Ally McBeal. These shows are notable for their discoveries of breakout stars that went on to become household names. Wood was then hired as the Vice President of Talent and Casting for Peter Guber’s Mandalay Pictures Television. At Mandalay, Wood participated in the development of projects for television and new media and served as casting director on Rude Awakening, a Showtime series with Lynn Redgrave, Sherilynn Fenn and Tim Curry along with the Coca-Cola sponsored series Young Americans. This WB series marked the television debut of future stars Kate Bosworth, Kate Moenning, Charlie Hunnam and Michelle Monaghan. As an independent casting director, Wood has worked on projects for all major network and cable outlets, including the Emmy winning Monk on USA starring Tony Shalhoub and most recently the ABC pilot and series Samantha Who? earning a 2008 Emmy for Jean Smart and a nomination for Christina Applegate. Wood and his partner Tammara Billik received a 2008 Artios nomination for Outstanding Comedy Pilot Casting. They are currently casting a Lifetime miniseries “Maneater” starring Sarah Chalke. Not limited to television, Wood has also established himself in award winning features. He cast the 2005 Sundance Film Festival hit Quinceanera, which accomplished the rare feat of winning both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award. He also cast 2007 Outfest HBO Audience Award winner Shelter, 2007 Toronto Film Festival hit Ping Pong Playa, and Pedro, which premiered at the 2008 Toronto Film Festival. Wood received a 2007 Artios nomination for Outstanding Feature Casting for Quinceanera and a win in 2008 for the feature Park starring Ricki Lake, Cheri Oteri and William Baldwin. He is currently casting Kent State, based on the 1970 shootings and Flicka 2 for Fox. In his spare time, Wood serves on the board of the Casting Society of America, and is a youth mentor with LifeWorks. He was recently featured on the cover of the Motion Picture Fund magazine highlighting his volunteer work with their elder programs and is an active fundraiser for various local charities.. He has also traveled extensively speaking about the casting and audition process.
